Speeches
What a Speech Is For
Sample copy. This desk will one day walk through a public remark: the occasion, the argument, and which sentences are worth rereading. None of that is claimed here.
This is placeholder copy for a speeches story. It does not summarize an address, and it does not put words in anyone's mouth.
A published piece will quote only sentences that were spoken or written, and it will name the transcript or the text they came from. This specimen has no quotation.
The point of the desk is ordinary and strict: tell a reader what was said, what was not said, and why the distinction matters. The telling starts when there is a real remark to read.
