The paper

About this paper

What The Fed Gazette is, why it carries a name the Minneapolis Fed once used, and the rule that keeps it independent.

The Fed Gazette is independent and is not affiliated with the Federal Reserve System, the Board of Governors, or any Federal Reserve Bank.

What this is

The Fed Gazette is a news magazine about the Federal Reserve: decisions, speeches, data releases, bank supervision, and markets. This edition shows the masthead, the desks, and the article template. The stories are placeholders. They are marked Sample story, and they contain no figures and no quotations. The Ledger is separate from those stories. Its figures are copied from public Federal Reserve and Treasury feeds, and each one is printed with the feed and the date on that feed.

The name

Fedgazette was the name of a regional business and economics newspaper published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. This website is not that newspaper, is not a continuation of it, and is not published by the Bank. The Fed Gazette is independent and is not affiliated with the Federal Reserve System, the Board of Governors, or any Federal Reserve Bank.

What we will not invent

A figure in a story runs only when it can be traced to the agency that published it. A quotation runs only when the words were actually said or written, and the source is named. Until that reporting is on the page, the story stays a labeled sample. Figures in the Ledger are the feed, copied across, with the source named. If a feed does not answer, that panel is left off. Nothing is put in its place.

A sister publication

fedpolicy.org explains federal economic policy in plain language. It is a sister publication. It is not this paper, and neither site speaks for the Federal Reserve.
