The FOMC’s Latest Statement, in the Board’s Words
Published · Updated
The decision and the vote line of the newest FOMC statement stored here, copied word for word from the Board, beside the target range the New York Fed publishes and the date of the next meeting.
The Federal Open Market Committee issues a statement after each meeting. This report prints two passages from the latest one exactly as the Board wrote them, names the statement they come from, and links it. Nothing in a block quotation is this paper’s own wording.
The rate beside the statement is the New York Fed’s record, with its date. The report says when the Board’s calendar puts the next meeting. It does not say what the committee will decide there.
The Federal Open Market Committee’s latest statement stored here is for the meeting of September 15–16, 2026. The Board of Governors published it, and the Board’s statement is the primary document.
The Committee decided to raise the target range for the federal funds rate by 1/4 percentage point to 3-3/4 to 4 percent, in support of the Federal Reserve's dual mandate.
The Federal Open Market Committee approved the following statement for release by a 12 – 0 vote:
Both passages are copied word for word from the Board’s statement for the meeting of September 15–16, 2026. Not paraphrased.
The New York Fed’s record carries the target range as 3.75% to 4.00%, with the effective federal funds rate at 3.88%, as of Oct 6, 2026. The statement writes its range in fractions. The New York Fed writes rates in decimals, and this paper shows them to two places.
The statement before it is for the meeting of July 28–29, 2026, also stored here (the Board’s earlier statement). The meeting page prints both texts unaltered and marks only which words differ: what changed from the July statement.
The Board’s calendar lists the next FOMC meeting for October 27–28, 2026. See the meeting page. The calendar was copied Oct 5, 2026.
