Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC)

The Federal Open Market Committee is the Federal Reserve body responsible for open market operations and for setting the stance of monetary policy. It has twelve members: the seven members of the Board of Governors, the president of the New York Fed, and four of the other Reserve Bank presidents, who serve one-year terms on a rotating basis. It meets eight times a year on a regular schedule.
